'After ten plus years of apartment dwelling, we decided to buy a home. We were expecting our second grandson in early July and the time seemed right to combine our families. Finding the perfect house was actually easy... I knew it from the first time I saw it.... Getting a mortgage was another thing all together.
We had excellent credit. We had debt, but were always timely in our payments. We had twelve-year relationship at our bank, including checking, savings, installment loans and a high line of credit on our checking account. My husband has worked for the same company for 12 years. NO HELP FROM THE BANK.... They wouldn't even consider it.
I spoke with three different lenders and in all three cases, we were never considered loan-worthy. It seemed that we were bound to fall short of our dream.
